French Onion Soup
When researching the origins of french onion soup I realized it dates all the way back to the Roman Empire. This simple peasant soup was common among the poor since onions were available and easy to grow. Lucky for them, and us, onions are also packed with vitamin C and other nutrients. The modern version became popular in18th century France.
